Inspired by true events, “Free” is about a young slave worker, Frederick Douglass, who is secretly taught to read and write by his master's wife. Using only the air as their blackboard, it was at that moment that he realized that literacy was his pathway from slavery to freedom.
Produced, Written, and Directed by Wanjiru M. Njendu
Inspired by true events, “Boxed” is about the terrifying daring escape of Henry "Box" Brown, a Virginia slave who used creativity and courage to escape from slavery in 1849.
Produced by Chip White
Written and Directed by Shea Sizemore
Black Dispatch was a common term used among Union military men for intelligence on Confederate forces provided by enslaved African Americans. Inspired by this, within the turmoil of the Civil War, “Black Dispatch” tells the story of Sable, a Confederate engineer's house slave, who risks everything by stealing military plans in hopes of delivering them to the Union Army and earning her family's freedom.
